Cape Smokey, Nova Scotia

On our way along the Cabot trail we had a quick stop at Cape Smokey, just shortly before we entered Ingonish.

The drive goes pretty steep up over a short distance, but we got rewarded with beautiful views of the shore line.

There are actually 2 stops. The second stop is also the entrance to the Cape Smokey Provincial Park and a 10 km hiking trail, which we didn’t do on this day. We rather walked down on a short walk to another beautiful overlook.

Cape Smokey is one of the landmark along the Cabot trail even though it doesn’t belong to the cape Breton Highlands National Park. Every morning when we woke up in our Cottage in Ingonish we saw Cape Smokey at the edge of Ingonish Bay.
