For the third day we planned a trip into the Californian desert- Anza Borrego desert state park, roughly 2 hours by car from San Diego. It was for sure one of the highlights. Just the drive there was great and adventures.
Over the mountains and back back down again through the Anza Borrego Park To Borrego Springs, a small town in the desert valley.
Once we arrived in Borrego Springs we went on a short hot trail. But hiking through the desert is a very unique experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it despite the heat. I was especially amazed by the desert sceneries with those palms.
The town of Borrego springs offers some restaurent and hotels plus a really nice visitor center. One of their main attraction are metal scalptures which can be found on several locations.
The way back was breathtaking as well as we took another road over the mountains through a pretty cool landscape. Our short visit made me hungry of more and we are thinking to spend a vacation in the future somewhere in the desert.
